All of our guest rooms are furnished with beds from DUXIANA, a renowned Swedish bed manufacturer established in 1926.
The DUX Bed by DUXIANA uses steel springs made from high-quality iron ore mined in Sweden. The springs are crafted from a single, continuous steel wire, forming interconnected coils that evenly distribute localized pressure on the body, promoting deeper and longer sleep. Swedish steel is known for its high wear resistance and anti-corrosive properties, ensuring a clean and comfortable sleeping experience for our guests.
Renowned for its unique floating comfort—soft yet supportive—DUXIANA beds are celebrated worldwide as luxury bedding for their exceptional design and craftsmanship. They are featured in prestigious hotels such as the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, where Nobel Prize laureates stay on the night of their award ceremonies, and the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai. Additionally, DUXIANA operates its own hotel in Malmö, Sweden, “The DUXIANA,” based on the concept of “the ultimate sleep,” reflecting their confidence in the quality of their beds.
We discovered this bed at the in-store showroom of Luca Scandinavia, located in Ginza 1-chome, Tokyo. Specializing in antique Nordic furniture, Luca Scandinavia also happens to be the exclusive importer of DUXIANA. Incidentally, we also purchased our reception’s China chairs from the same spot.
Our first impression was captivated by the bed’s stylish design. Additionally, we were intrigued by its unique construction, where the bed frame and mattress are integrated, topped with a thick, standalone top pad that enhances its soft and luxurious feel. This distinctive structure felt refreshingly innovative to us.
When we asked for more details at the showroom, we learned that the highly elastic mattress, designed to make turning over in bed effortless, evenly distributes pressure across the entire body within the mattress, reducing strain on blood flow. The bed also incorporates the Duxiana Pascal System, which features spring cassettes with varying levels of firmness placed in the shoulder, lumbar, and leg areas. These cassettes can be adjusted to suit individual preferences or changes in the body, providing optimal comfort as needed.
We became even more enchanted with this bed, which combines exceptional design with outstanding comfort. The inclusion of the Pascal System also enables us to offer tailored suggestions for long-staying guests, allowing for a more personalized and guest-centered approach.
After exploring beds from various manufacturers and carefully deliberating over an extended period of time, we ultimately chose the DUX Bed for its perfect balance of design and functionality, harmonizing beautifully with the meticulously curated interiors of our guest rooms. Additionally, we decided to adopt DUXIANA’s unique INNER XLEEP PILLOW, which features built-in springs. (In our suites room, the INNER XLEEP PILLOW is further enhanced by being encased in a feather cushion, branded as the XLEEP PILLOW.)
We believe that among the many amenities in a hotel, the bed is particularly important. During the limited time of a hotel stay, it is the one item that guests interact with the most. Therefore, we put great care into selecting not only the beds and pillows themselves, but also the linens that come into direct contact with our guests’ skin, such as sheets and pillowcases.
Samples were created, repeatedly sent for cleaning, and rigorously tested for durability. To complete the total coordination, we placed a custom-made bed throw, crafted from the same fabric as our curtains, lightly over the top and added a bolster for balance. This thoughtful arrangement ensures comfort, design harmony, and an overall sense of refinement.
